1. Integrated Fertilizer Management System (iFMS)

Source: Mint

Context: The government is turning its fertiliser management into a data-driven platform, linking sales with farmer, land and crop records and tracking supplies from production to retail — through the Integrated Fertilizer Management System (iFMS).

Aim: spot supply gaps and unusual buying patterns early, while making subsidy payouts more transparent.

What is iFMS?

The Integrated Fertilizer Management System (iFMS) is a web-based system of the Government of India used to monitor and manage the availability, movement, distribution and sale of fertilizers across the country.

It helps the government track fertilizers from manufacturers/importers → wholesalers → retailers → farmers.

Key Objectives

  • Ensure timely availability of fertilizers to farmers.
  • Monitor the supply and movement of fertilizers across States and districts.
  • Track fertilizer stocks at different levels.
  • Help prevent shortages, diversion and black marketing.
  • Support better management of fertilizer subsidy.
  • Provide data for policy-making and supply planning.

How does it work?
