- India launched its first LNG-powered passenger train from Sabarmati, Gujarat.
- The 8-coach train uses a retrofitted LNG-diesel dual-fuel system, with LNG capable of replacing up to 40% of diesel consumption during line-haul operations.
- The inaugural route was Sabarmati–Mahesana on the Western Railway.
- The initiative aims to reduce diesel use and emissions, particularly on routes where full electrification is not yet available.
