The J&K government’s official holiday list for 2025 released on Monday faced criticism from ruling National Conference (NC) for not including party founder Sheikh Abdullah’s birth or death anniversary and July 13, 1931 in the list.
Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah (5 Dec 1905 – 8 Sept 1982)
Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah was an Indian politician who was the founder of the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference and the first elected Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir after India’s accession. He was a great agitator against Maharaja Hari Singh’s rule and demanded self-rule for Kashmir, also known as Sher-e-Kashmir.
