- Deep fluid circulation: Meteoric water (melted snow/glaciers) seeps into rock fractures and is superheated by hot rocks.
- High-pressure ascent: Hot, less-dense water rises under pressure — trapped in permeable reservoirs or erupting as hot springs and sulphur fumaroles at the surface.
