- Researchers from the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) and the Uluberia Botanical Institute Herbarium recorded Ophiopogon japonicus for the first time in India.
- The species was found in West Kameng district, Arunachal Pradesh.
- It is an evergreen perennial herb of the Asparagaceae family, commonly called dwarf lilyturf or mondo grass.
- Its roots are traditionally used in East Asian medicine.
