Context:
The Centre’s One Nation, One Subscription (ONOS) scheme will more than triple the number of State-affiliated colleges and individuals who can access research papers — in the sciences and humanities — from the world’s top publishers.
About the scheme:
- The One Nation One Subscription scheme will benefit all Higher Educational Institutions under Central or State Government management and Research & Development Institutions through a national subscription coordinated by the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET), an autonomous inter-university center of the University Grants Commission.
- First phase of onos will commence on January 1, 2025, private universities and colleges will be included after 2027.
- Budget Allocation:
- A total of about Rs.6,000 crore has been allocated for One Nation One Subscription for 3 calendar years, 2025, 2026 and 2027
