Context:
India’s forest and tree cover has reached a quarter of the country’s total geographical area, according to the India State of Forest Report (ISFR) 2023, released by the Government of India on Saturday.
Key Highlights:
- In this regard, the India State of Forest Report 2023 has recorded forest and tree cover as 25% of the total geospatial extent of India.
- This translates to a 25.17% improvement in which forest and tree covers accounted for 21.76 and 3.41 percentage points, respectively.
