Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences and Minister of State for PMO, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Space, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the 14th Asia-Oceania Meteorological Satellite Users’ Conference.

- Singh hailed “Mission Mausam” as a revolutionary program that will transform the way weather forecasting is done in India.
- This initiative is the first in a pan-Indian framework scientifically organized by the Government of India for solutions to climate-related hazards.
- Singh cited that space technology and weather forecasting have been developed in India, highlighting AI, machine learning, and geoinformatics for forecast.
- He extends congratulations to the India Meteorological Department, which has crossed the milestone of 150 years and at the same time pointed out AOMSUC-14 as an opportunity to enhance regional and international collaboration in satellite meteorology.
- He approved the capacity-building initiative in AOMSUC for developing countries to benefit from the developments in satellite meteorology.
