Armenia has officially released the logo for COP17 of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), showcasing the Erivan Anomalous Blue (Polyommatus eriwanensis) — a rare butterfly endemic to the region.
About Erivan Anomalous Blue (Polyommatus eriwanensis)
- A rare blue butterfly species endemic to Armenia.
- Named after Yerevan (historically called Erivan).
- Occurs only in the southern Transcaucasia region.
- Found in calcareous grasslands of Armenia.
- Univoltine species — produces one generation a year.
Conservation Status
- Not listed under Global or European IUCN Red Lists.
- Classified as Endangered in the Red Book of Animals of Armenia (2010).
- Range overlaps with:
- Khosrov Forest State Reserve
- Gnishik Protected Landscape
