- VARUNA is the annual bilateral naval exercise between the Indian Navy and French Navy.
- The 24th edition is being hosted at Toulon Naval Base, France, with INS Trishul representing India.
- The exercise began as India-France naval interactions in 1983 and was formally named VARUNA in 2001.
- Major activities include air defence, anti-submarine warfare, surface combat, tactical drills, replenishment and coordinated manoeuvres. Other major India-France exercises are Shakti (Army) and Garuda (Air Force).
