Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has formally approved the execution model for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme. The move marks a critical step in Indiaβs quest to develop an indigenous fifth-generation stealth fighter jet, reinforcing strategic autonomy and military self-reliance.
Execution Model and Industry Participation
- The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) under DRDO will lead the project.
About the AMCA Fighter Jet
- The AMCA is a twin-engine, medium-weight multirole stealth fighter with the following capabilities:
- Stealth airframe
- Internal weapons bay
- Sensor fusion and advanced avionics
- Supercruise capability
- Designed for:
- Deep penetration missions
- Swing-role operations
- Precision strikes and close air combat
- Projected weight: ~25 tonnes
- Will serve alongside the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) as a key component of the Indian Air Forceβs future fleet.
