Part C – Interview
Candidates will be selected for the Interview stage based on their overall marks in the Main Examination (Phase II), as per the rules mentioned in the NICL AO 2025 notification.

- Specialist candidates
- Hindi (Rajbhasha) Officers
Only those who score well enough in the Mains (or Written Exam for Hindi Officers) will be shortlisted and called for the Interview, which will be conducted by NICL.
So, performing well in the Main Exam is key to reaching the final stage of selection!
NICL AO Exam Marking Scheme
In the NICL AO 2025 exam, if you answer a question incorrectly in the Prelims, Mains (objective sections), or the Hindi objective test, there will be negative marking.
How the negative marking works:
- All questions will be multiple-choice, and only one option is correct.
- For each wrong answer, ÂĽth (one-fourth) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.
- If you skip a question (leave it blank), no marks will be deducted.
So, guess only when you’re reasonably sure — random guessing can reduce your score!
NICL AO Exam Final Selection:
The final selection of candidates for NICL AO 2025 will be based on their combined marks from the Main Exam (Objective Test) and the Interview.
Weightage of Marks:
- Main Exam (Objective Test): 80%
- Interview: 20%
This means your performance in the Main Exam will have a bigger impact on your final score than the interview.
The company will later decide the minimum marks required to qualify the interview stage.
