- In Chuchot and nearby villages of Ladakh, glacial meltwater was flowing unused into the Indus River, while agricultural fields faced water shortages.
- Officials identified a Stok village nallah, fed by the Stok Kangri Glacier, carrying nearly 90 million litres of water daily.
- Instead of constructing expensive new infrastructure, the water was connected to existing irrigation canals through basic earthwork.
- The initiative now provides irrigation to more than 1,000 acres across 12 villages, demonstrating community-led water management.
