Scorpene-Class Submarines

The Defence Ministry has signed two ₹2,867 crores contracts for the construction work of the air-independent propulsion module and electronic heavyweight torpedo, developed by DRDO, for Scorpene submarines.

The Scorpène-class submarines, developed by the French Naval Group and Spanish company Navantia, are diesel-electric attack submarines with air-independent propulsion, now marketed as the Scorpène 2000.
